A similar plate style (but not design style) suggests it might be made by Wedgwood and possibly predates their makers marks (the early 1800's) or it could be an antique knockoff from a competing pottery company in the early 1900's when Asian themes were popular and potteries were scurrying to make money on trendy copycat designs
it is fun to imagine all the dinner parties this one plate must have experienced
it most likely was either the smallest size in a set of antique mixing bowls or it was an open sugar bowl ideal for doling out sweetener by the spoonful
