it doesn't really look as if the ever had one

but it would also been easy to nail or glue a hook to the back and hang it

Probably done in school (maybe by the teacher as they're quite intricate) via folding and cutting the paper, like snowflakes with a sophistication to the designs and the reflective silver paper really elevating them I think.
